Soul Portraits

​I'm not saying that human identity and ego are evil, I'm just saying they're misleading. All of our hurts and wrong deeds seem to come from the idea of a separate self that must be defended and appeased, nested in some idea of a history.

All envy, resentment, hatred, greed, lust, pettiness, slander, thievery, violence and suffering come from the directives of this fictional entity we often call 'ourselves', which is really just a fictional story given to us by society and our parents. This story can be useful, if it's recognized for the story it is, but think of how much suffering comes from the addiction to wanting to be powerful, wanting to be seen as 'good', wanting to be seen as 'better' than others in some fashion. At the end of the day, such things are all chaff, and obscure the 'Image of God' we are all made in. Our perfect and eternal true nature. I hope it brings you much peace and joy.
